Discerning General Synod 2025

Pathways

We are grateful for the work of the Primate’s Commission, which has proposed Pathways for restructuring and revisioning of the Anglican Church of Canada. In advance of General Synod 2025, Communion Partners (Canada) commissioned writers to address these Pathways. We heard from academics, bishops, priests, and lay people, who offered their thoughts in a variety of formats–essays, shorter commentary and a Q&A. We hope and pray that you will find these contributions helpful as we discern, together, God’s will for His Church.  In addition to the themes identified by the Commission, we are also offering several essays under a capstone theme of “Evangelism, Discipleship and Renewal”—which we understand to be the most important challenge to undertake, at this time of transition and restructuring.
Finally, we are also including below the series of essays Communion Partners offered to General Synod 2023, on the topic of governance and the role of bishops, as we understand that Resolutions on this topic will also be considered in June.

“Prevent us, O Lord, in all our doings with thy most gracious favour and further us with thy continual help, that in all our works begun, continued and ended in Thee, we may glorify thy Holy Name and finally, by thy mercy, obtain everlasting life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.” (From the BCP service for Holy Communion)
